Midlife, crisis or opportunity!?
"Somewhere between 35 and 45 if we let ourselves, most of us will have a full-out authenticity crisis" -Gail Sheehy, Passages
There appears a nagging feeling deep from the inside: Is that really all there is to life? It can also come from the outside in the form of a loss of a job or a relationship, health issues or a death in the family. It feels like a hurricane is blasting through our lives, that rips everything wide open. Sometimes we override these urgent feelings....and then it will all blow up when we are hitting 60! We feel all this is happening "suddenly" or "appears" out of the blue, but if we are honest with ourselves we realize it's been brewing for a while. We are forced to examine who we are and what we want in life, what our values are, and re-prioritize what is important to us now.
"When written in Chinese, the word "crisis" is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity."
- President John F. Kennedy
Between 35-45 we are forced to examine our life. Nothing in life or in nature is meant to stay the same. This is a Saturn process. If we do the necessary work at out first Saturn Return, between 29 to 31, taking on a challenge, working hard, and maturing in the process, then we have cultivated ego strength and emotional muscle to navigate this part of the journey. This is where the natal horoscope comes in to help you untangle all the different strands of life and lay them out for you to put in an manageable order. And then you can start creating the life you want.
